Advice Please

I just got my 1st Betta 2 weeks ago and have been having quite some trouble. Before the purchase of my dear Hamara my aunt was determine to buy me a tank for him; so I let her. The tank proclaimed as "Betta Friendly" I guess I can say, but after I got everything set up and Hamara into the new tank...well apparently his reflection became a problem. He wouldn't eat or anything and became quite pale in his coloring. It wasn't a until a week later until I finally was able to get a day off work to get a new tank and food. After I got everything set up after that everything seemed fine, Hamara calmed down and as far as I know hes eating (I really don't mean for this to be so long), but he is still quite pale. I went to the Petland by my house and was helped by a worker that just got his first Betta also and was able to help me find a good conditioner for the water. But I would like some extra help if you please, it's only been 2 weeks and I love my Betta very much and don't like to see any kind of harm to come to him or any of my animals for that fact. I would just like some extra advice on Betta's and I what can do to make him more comfortable and less stressed.
