very long trip

I have returned to these forums after my 4 month break, and have also moved to western australia, which means that i have no options to ordering fish online because it is illegal to bring aquatic fish into WA unless you're a LFS or have a permit.

in new years i am going to perth (14 hr drive) and i have reset up my tank (2.5 gal) so its ready to go, just add fish and plants. when i am in perth i am going to buy plants and probably a nice betta. My question is should i just get him bagged up with nice water, lots of air and follow the shipping guidelines in this thread (http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=35196) but it is averaging around 35* C and it is really hot, it'll be cooler in perth so il'l probably use a cool pack thing and use a temperature probe with seperate display.

how would i bring the plants back with me? like how would i bag them?
to give you an idea i will be bringing back Dwarf hairgrass, java fern, anubias and maybe some crypt...

sadly when i left i had to take noname the betta and all my plants back to the LFS and was left with gravel, aquariums and some chemicals.

i hope to restore my tank to its former glory, please share your ideas
this is how my tank was (i made a blog on it) the picture is old and i also had hairgrass and a divider so it looked loke a garden bed.

If you insulate the box, you can drive with him in your car, that way you know he'll stay at the proper temps.

I'm not sure how to bag plants, I'm guessing you just bag them with more water then air, and possible blow into the bag to give them co2?

In austrailia, if you order online from aquabid, I'm pretty sure there is a transhipper. He/she will recieve your fish (he/she will have the permits necessary to do so) then ship to you.

edit: wait... so you're going to buy your fish and plants in Perth then ship them to Australia?

I just bag my plants in a bag no water and they just go in a cooler with a fish. They have enough moisture in them to keep them alive and fine. I usually blow the bag up so its inflated and the leaves dot get crushed.
