Dividing 20G for Betta boys?

So..if I were to pick up a 20G and divide it for some boys, how would I go about filtering that?

One HOB? Multiple sponge filters?

If anyone has done it (and I'm sure someone has) did you go about it?

No idea. But I would guess multiple filters, to get the stuff in each division. I don't really know for sure though.

If it's a 20 long:

I have one HOB filter for a 10 gallon tank, with the plastic bottle buffer (of which we have a sticky thread to show you how to make it) to keep the water from "pushing" the betta around. Since it's only divided into 3 sections, I only use one filter. As long as it keeps the water from being stagnant I'm okay with it. Especially since it's 20 gallons for 3 bettas, my guys don't produce tons of waste. Hope this helps! Oh and I wouldn't divide it for more than 4 boys. I've had it from divided in 6 to 3 now because it looks better and they all have more room. :)

I have my 20g long divided into 4 sections and have a sponge filter set up in one of the middle sections. It works well and doesn't cause too much current in the section it's in. Then again I also have a ton of live plants in my tank as well, which help with the water conditions and acts as a natural buffer for the filter.
