It holds 1 gallon.

I was wondering if I should switch him over to this tank - http://images.buzzillions.com/images...669444_175.jpg
It also holds 1 gallon BUT it has a light, air pump and undergravel filter with tube. It has been used by one of my previous fish(not a Betta) but has been thoroughly washed. So should I move him into this tank? and if so should I use the filter and air pump because I don't mind doing frequent water changes. Will he be happier in this tank rather than his vase?

Also, what is this? It was part of the filter but I cleaned it and it still looks dirty. Can I buy a replacement?

If you want to upgrade, I would just go ahead and get a 2.5 gallon. I think 2.5 is the absolute minimum size for a betta. Plus, you can find them just as cheap as for a 1 gallon.

Hopefully I'll be able to upgrade to a 2.5 when I save enough money.
But for now I've decided that I will move Tinsel into the new tank but not use the air filter because I heard it was a bit strong and I want him to still be able to make a bubblenest. I plan to get him a few more accessories for his new tank and add a 7.5 w heater. If I get the heater, will it melt the plastic of the tank?

No. I use heaters i rubbermaid and nothing happens.

I'm sure Tinsel (super cute name) will be happy in the tank :) I always thought vases were such odd shapes for them to swim in haha.. but that's just my weird preference.

i buy the 2~ish gallon Kritter Keepers(or whatever off brand there is), and they're like.... $10. most of the one gallons i've seen are way more than that, so i'm getting a good deal. or, if you want bigger, i found this while browsing amazon:

That part actually resembles a very used airstone...so yes, you can get a replacement if it is, in fact, an airstone.
