Question Few Questions

I've noticed in about the past week that my two betts, Dante (male) and Poma (female) have been eyeing each other, or rather Dante's eyeing Poma. I was thinking about breeding them in the future and was wondering how much it would cost to do this? Also how would I go about selling the offspring?

It may cost a lot, depending on what you are willing to do. You may lose one or both fish in spawning, and if your fish are veil tails finding homes will be very hard. Do research, and get quality fish before breeding.

www.bettatalk.com has a good list of supplies and prices involved with breeding.

Well let's see about your pair...good bettas don't come from petstore fish...You'll need to invest in a nice pair of bettas....it'll make finding homes for the fry much easier.

Also are you prepared to deal with up to 500 fry? Do you have space for all the tanks you'll need?

Both fish are from the pet store. Is it bad to breed pet store fish?

Yup...they're genetic mutts and they may be too old to spawn.

And it sounds like way to much for me to handle so I'll just stick with my two fish. Though thank you for answering my questions :)

The spawning itself isn't as much work as raising the fry to adulthood.
