Betta Fish Sorority help??

So with Striker on his way from Thailand, and yes i decided on the name striker :) lol (thanks everyone for the name suggestions!). I have recently acquired a used 30 gal. used tank from a friend i have a heater and i am going to buy a new filter for it , but i really thought it would be cool to start an all female tank? just wondering how many could thrive in a 30 gallon tank and just any other general info i may need to know on starting a betta sorority?

Betta Sororities= Fun!

Get 15 or so females. Make sure there is tons of hiding places and tall plants/decorations to break the line of vision at the top. You need to get a filter. I usually pick larger females as everytime I pick a small one she has multiple problems and is never high on the dominance list. Watch very carefully for the first couple days, to make sure no one is extremely aggresive. Some nipping and chasing is expected.

Hmm you can have quite a few in that size tank. I have 5 girls in the 14 gallon, and I can have a few more before it's too crowded. So really you can do 10-15 and be safe. A betta sorority was easy for me to set up. I introduced as many as I could at once and they chased each other, nipping fins, setting up their pecking order. When I get new girls I actually just toss them in and the whole pecking order reestablishes itself. Some take out all the existing girls and change decor around before introducing a new female, but I have yet to have problems with my method. You'll want to watch them carefully though... I've had to remove one because she was way too aggressive for sorority living. She didn't calm down after a week of being in the tank. Other than that, it's just like keeping any other community tank.

I love sororities! I don't have one yet though D: Well for a ten gallon most recommend 5-8, I believe. Don't quote me on that ;)
When I asked about a 29 gallon I have, most of the answers were 10-12 girls, and that's if you don't have any other fish.
Just make sure there are a lot of hiding places and plants for the girls to retreat to.
