Sorority?

I am considering making a sorority using a ten gallon tank.

I plan on having 5 girls. Is that a good number?

Can I have cory cats, or would that be pushing for space?

5 girls in a 10 gallon is a great number.

No, you need at least 20 gallons for tank mates.

5 girls and yes you could have cory cats, or an albino BN pleco.

Cories are soical fish (believe it or not lol) and need to be in groups of no less than 5, unless you have more than 1 species, then groups no less than 3. Most cory schools will be 100% of the stock for a 10g just by themselves. Pygmy cories are small, and you can fit a nice school in a 5g tank, but they could be killed by the females. I do not recommend ANY type of cory in a small sorority.

Alot of people don't think that the miniature plecos (BN, RL) should be kept in a 10g, because it doesn't allow much space to swim on the bottom. Alot of people think it is Ok because of their relatively small size. I don't have an opinion on that matter. I guess that is your decision.

My cories are perfectly happy In their 4 fish group. They have lots of space to rummage. And I say that the BN plecos can go in a ten gallon, if you have lots of wood to create more space to suck on!

Well, some of the medium cories might do Ok. I don't recommend anything 2 1/4" or more. Some people say that a group of 4 is fine. I personally wouldn't go under 5, but I wouldn't want to overstock the tank, either.

5 females is a good number..You could even go into 6..But I wouldnt add any tankmates other than a snail..
