Microscope

Hey guys just wondering if a microscope could be useful in any way when cycling and raising a betta.

Maybe looking at water samples up close for organisms or if my betta gets sick to see if it is bacterial/fungal?

If you know what your looking at it could be very helpful.

So for example, if I thought he had flexibacter columnaris or something, I could take a water sample and then look up a picture of it?

You would take scraping from gills, scales etc and view with the microscope-the water itself already contains most of the bacteria that causes illness in the fish like flex-the fish immunity it what keeps it at bay or from infecting them along with good husbandry

A microscope is great to have in the fish room-I wish I had a newer model that you could hook up to the computer to view the slide and then you could post them on the computer too...that would be so neat....to share scraping/findings...etc.....I bet there are even site you could send them to for diagnosis or evaluation at least...

It is digital so I am sure I would be able to upload photos. I got it for Christmas last year :) .

Lucky you...I want one of those so bad...mine is about 30 years old.....laffs....
