Getting Back in the Hobby, My First Find.

This is my new betta since my first one died 10 years ago, I found him at a local aquarium store where they usually have excellent looking bettas. They said he was a Dragon Scale betta, is there such a thing and if not what kind and color is he? He is more coppery than red in person and I think he is nipping at his tail, because it was a solid curve and now has three notches in it.
Also looking for names if you can think of any, thanks!

This one shows more of his copper color, sorry for the water drops.

nice betta :D

Yes, there is a coloration called dragon, and he looks to be one. Dragons have really thick white scales on their bodies that almost look like a second layer. He's a red dragon.

Yeah he's a dragon
But to correct tye post above, dragon has nothing to with white scales, at all. The fish can be any color. a dragon is defined by thick armour like scales that also cover the face. Nothin to do with the color.
As for this amazing guys color, id say copper. But not sure with all the red.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if the aquarium store owner was calling them that to charge more or not. He was only $9.99 while his VT's and CT's were $5.99, but all of them had such vivid colorations, I wanted to take them all home.

he looks like my Delta's twin brother, only on the good side! xD my Delta, Dante, has black on the edges, like yours looks to have white. :d

i've heard the term for copper with red fins is called "Bronze", but i'm not sure.

He's stunning. :)
As for a name, maybe Odysseus or Mercutio. (I'm a big lit buff :P)

He's a looker! A really nice dragon, and is a delta tail(?) too! Sweet.

Welcome back to the hobby. Bettas are so much fun, it's hard to stay away.

Thanks everyone, I like Mercutio and I can't wait to get a nice big setup for him. He could be a Delta tail, though I am not one to judge that, but I found one similar to him fin wise, a Red Gold Dragon Delta on AquaBid under the user name Chard56.
