Question No more bubbles?

My guy made some glorious bubble nests for the first few weeks he was home but hasn't made any new ones in the past couple of months. I do 50-75 % water changes twice a week. He's in a 2.5 gallon, heated, planted tank. Eats great! Why no more bubbles?

Also, I tried adding a mystery snail to his tank a few days ago and he nipped at it and stalked it until I got nervous and took it out (it's living happily now with two other mystery snail in my 10 gallon betta/cory tank). The betta now has a scrape on the top of his head, I think where the snail slammed shut quickly while he was being harassed. I'd love to add it back, to clean the tank and becasue the 3 snails in the 10 gallon are pushing the overstock limits, but need some tips so that both snail and betta are safe. Will he eventually leave it alone? Should I rearange his space a bit first? Thanks for all tips!

Smile Pics!

Thanks for the tip! I didn't even think to attach pics.
I went home last night to take some and found this waiting for me...

So I guess this bubble question no longer applies!

But I still hope to add a snail and am still concerned with the spot on his head. The pics are horrrible and I apologize but I hope you can see what you need to. This is my blue fan tail? (I think)

You can barely see the lighter gray spot on the top of his head above his eye. It literally looks like a patch of 5 or 6 scales was scraped off.

Another pic... of the spot on his head

The mystery snail I would like to add...

And his current tank layout. 2.5 gallon, undergravel heater, planted tank. Hope this helps!
