Finding a reputable breeder

How do you go about finding a reputable breeder? Or find one that is near you?

I looked on IBC's website for a while and from what I could find there isn't anything near my area. I didn't look very closely though as I wasn't sure how to navigate around their site. However, are there lists compiled lists somewhere? I'm not interested in breeding anytime soon (maybe in the future but on a very small scale) and am not looking for a fish right at this time. I see some of the interesting patterns on aquabid and would love the opportunity to check out fish like that closer to home (and without the extreme shipping if possible!).

I did a little searching, but who knows what is legit and what it is.

If you haven't already, check the IBC's chapters section. It will show a bunch of betta clubs and where they are located. Find one near you and contact a member. You may have already tried this though.

Good reviews is a big plus. Especially on aquabid.
