Looking for female

I was wondering if any of you fine Betta Breeders happen to have any females you would be willing to sell? I need one, I dont plan on breeding until around April...but id like to have her here to make sure she is in good health.

ive been asking but it seems they all want 30 dollars shipping during the winter months. i would just go to the local pet store. aquabid.com might have some locally or dr fosters aqua store has them for 20 shipping which is still alot but its the cheapest ive found. theyre out of females right now of course though.

breeding pet store bettas isn't suggested by many. they often have defects that can pass onto the fry, like bent spines and bad finnage. you're better off waiting till things warm up. the reason they want 30 to ship now, is because it's way too cold for the bettas, so they pack them with heating packs and ship overnight, if possible.

Well it depends on what kind of female your looking for crowntails, veiltails and doubletails are easy to come by in pet stores, if your looking for a halfmoon thats another story... its best to buy those from a breeder. As well as any other fish if you want a record of their genetic history because petstore fish tend to be a mishmash of genes.

so in the summertime the bettas online will be cheaper shipping? the heating packs only cost like 3 dollars i think. they dont have to ship them overnight in the summer though? if thats the case thats perfect for me. thats enough time to do some more research on breeding as well as get everything set up and ready.

well, i know this past summer, people were more willing to use the $5~10 priority shipping boxes.

i've heard stories, and saw just today, pictures of pet store bettas with bad defects. search Aquabid.com for breeders in your area(international breeders have the little globe picture, US breeders have the USA map, canadian have the Canadian flag). it's cheaper there, imo. :d females usually cost around $5 or so on there.

They pack the bettas really well. They aren't jostled around much at all... so no worries on the shipping side. It'll be hard to find someone ship to you for less than the overnight $35 though.

even in the summertime? these fish can last weeks without food, why do they gotta be shipped overnight? i can imagine why now cus its cold but why not in the summertime. heck who knows how long my fish was sitting on the walmart shelf in just a little container.

It's not warm everywhere in the summer... so it depends on where they're coming from and going to...
