A 10 gallon kit for $55.00 is pretty good... but you might do better if you just keep checking your sources online and watch for sales.
When spring comes, a lot of people have yard sales and you can find fishy stuff for cheap. There's also some online boards (like freecycle.org) where people list stuff they just want to get rid off... FOR FREE.
A bowl is not ideal for housing bettas simply because of the available surface area. If that bowl was divided into two, there would only be a small area of space available for oxygen exchange. Also, in such a cramped environment, you would need to do daily 100% water changes simply to keep the ammonia levels down.
I would recommend holding off breeding for a while until you have researched it further. If you don't want to spend funds on additional heaters and equipment now, what is going to happen when it comes time to jarring and separating out individuals from your spawn in the future?
and 24 dollars for a fish tank lid. is that the chepeast they come, i had no idea they were so much.
Like I said in a prior thread. And Yes I remember you stating you did not have the room.
Petco = 14 gallon glass comes complete with Hood, Heater, Filter, Thermometer and Net, all for 39.95!! A Bang for the Buck item set, you can't beat this deal anywhere. Good luck in your future purchases
thanks guys, yes i know im not gonna start breeding until springtime. right now im just getting the supplies i need and doing the research. wont get a female until springtime. gotta make sure Leon is happy.
did you guys see the build a betta workshop at petco? you get a male betta, fish tank and everything for 9.99 plus tax. i dont think it comes with a heater, but this would be a great deal. only problem is it comes with a male not a female. i might just get it though, sell the male, buy a female, and use that as my second tank. sounds like a fun time i might go.
