after his last water change, he stopped.
now hes always around the edges of the tank
and doesn't eat as eagerly as before,
what happened?

Water that feels "warm" to us can be over 100* F. Next time, use a thermometer to get the right temp.

When she was over at my place and we were setting the tank up, I told her how warm it should be- not too warm, obviously, just a little under luke-warm.

How much aquarium salt are you putting in? And by the way don't put it in always- I just put it in that one time to see if he had parasites or not (which he doesn't.) Just put in about a half tsp, I'd say, since he has no reason for needing it.

Yeah, there were none at Big Al's, and I haven't seen any at our local pet-store around here otherwise I would've gotten one for you- but Petsmart or a petstore around your place hopefully'd have one. They're not expensive.

I don't know how some of you can use the finger under the faucet method. Me? I am not that talented. Days in advance of a water change day I have gallon jugs of replacement water with conditioner sitting in the corner of the bedroom. This allows the replacement water to reach room temperature...

What size tank do you have that you need to rinse deco on a water change date? If you are rinsing the gravel and deco under a tap water faucet you are just killing off "good" bacteria and whatever cycle process that had started will be back to ground zero again.
