Guess who's tank just cycled!

I have a 2.5 gal for my Xander, and hadn't had any luck doing a fishless cycle. So I got Xander and did a "fish in" cycle I guess. Actually, to be quite honest, I didn't do anything except monitor levels and do a 50% wc and a 100% wc per week. I honestly didn't think it would ever cycle because it was so small, ammonia always went up and I never got a reading for nitrate. But I checked my levels yesterday and I had 0 ppm ammonia and 5 ppm for nitrate after having gone 3 days between a water change!!!!!

I'm ridiculously excited about this - finally I can go longer between water changes! It's been a month since the time I put Xander in and the time my tank cycled.

Also, Xander built his first bubble nest a few days ago. :D

I think mine is cycled now, too. :D Pfft. Yay for plants and bogwood in my tank.

When I took apart my filter for maintainence today, it was full of slimey goo - so, I guess that's a yes (at least in my case).
