Should I just give him some time?

I just got a small tank and a Beautiful Betta. He seems to like the tank, but stays away from the castle and caves. He likes to be near one of the two silk plants or the heater...or even just the bare area. But he doesn't go near the castle...which may be too large for the tank.....idk.

Bo is my first betta. He is in a tetra waterfall globe 1.8 gal, with a HT10 heater in it. In a month or so he will be moved into a 6 gal Chi...it is backordered. He does not mind the waterfall, he comes up to breathe and swims right through where the current from it would be.

Should I give him some time to get used to the larger living area and the castle or remove the castle to give him more swimming room?

I'll try to post a pic later.

Well, I guess I need to find out how to post pictures here.

Here are two links to my flickr with pics of Bo and his tank.

Maybe take out the castle and add a few more plants if you have them.
If yo're sure the temp is ok and the water parameters are fine, maybe he just needs some time to adjust.

It does seem like the castle takes up a lot of swimming space. He might be more comfy without it.

I agree. The castle is too large for that tank.

Yeah, I'd take out the castle and stick some tall plants in there, like fake grasses and whatnot :)

Thank you everyone. I took out the castle and put the red silk plant directly under the waterfall and now Bo is using the whole bowl.

I even fed him a tiny bit and he ate.

(Ummm, just a small pinch a day right?)
