i'm scared.

so i bought my first fish ever yesterday, a crowntail betta, it's in a 2.5 tank, w/ a heater ..no air pump yet ..but he's only been in the tank for a little bit over 24hours, and seems like he hates it ! he stays in one spot and doesn't move. he doesn't eat the pellets or the worms ! i failed. i'm soo scared i'm not doing something right.

Did you use water conditioner?

Does he have a cave or something to hide in?

He may just need to adjust to the new environment. Give him a few days.

my betta hid in his cave for almost a week when I got him. Now he's as active as can be! Just make sure his water is nice and warm and he should come around.

haha, I know it's frustrating, be patient with him. Try to avoid scary things, like unnecessary water changes, rearranging tank, tapping glass, etc. Keep an eye to make sure you don't see any signs of illness, and just try to relax. He's probably just overwhelmed by his new "mansion" compared to the tiny pet store cup!

Just calm down.

Don't get an air pump... (Or maybe I misread) Just a filter is fine long as the water is moving alittle.

*Twitch*

Plants... Your lack of nature disturbs me *Vader Choke's you* Fill your tank with plants REAL ones not fake! Get a Java Fern, they are pretty much idiot proof.

No worries, your betta is just adjusting. It's a pretty big change going from a small cup to a tank like that...it might take him up to two weeks to eat too. Just be patient with him and keep offering food.
