Betta Tank Sizes...

So a friend of mine is interested in the Betta species and wants to know if it's ok to put a single betta in a 1 gallon tank with a filter and if it's in a very warm part of the house. I would tell her my opinion but I'm newer to fish myself and don't know as much as you may know. I think she needs some more experienced people to convince her if it's not good or good.

A 1 gallon tank is fine if she does 100% water changes every day or every other day at the most. 2.5g is more recommended (I personally wouldnt do anything smaller that 2.5g, but thats me), and 5g+ is fantastic. A heater is a must though, even if the betta IS in a warm part of the house. It's winter, you know! Oh, and she'll need a thermometer for her tank too. Get her to feed her betta pellets when she gets him ;)

It is okay, but it would need a lot of water changes. I notice my fish are the happiest in 5+ And I wouldn't put them in a smaller enclosure unless I had to.

The only two things she doesn't have is a heater and thernometer. Where can she find a heater for a 1 gallon tank? Any ideas?

Um, a local petsmart, petco, petland, local pet store, those kind of places are where you can get heaters and thermometer. Dont forget to tell her about water conditioner!

*Edit: A heater for a 1g would be like 10W I think. Just make sure her tank wont get over 84F or colder than 77F.
