I just got him about 2 days ago. None of the other most recent 2 bettas lasted longer than 2 or 3 days, either. Its a 3 gallon tank. My previous bettas that lived 2-3 years were in 2 gallon tanks with a weekly water change.

have you ever tried to entirely clean the tank. Emptey out everything, wash it all with a diluted bleach solution, then rinse and then retry?

I've done that with the exception of the diluted bleach. Each time I put a new fish in, I put in new gravel or larger "rocks" entirely new water and its just like starting a new tank.

Which I thought was part of the problem from one of the earlier posts.

This is getting confusing.

I think people are trying to determine if you actually want to cycle the tank I assumed you did. If you want to I would continue trying to cycle it but move the betta to a separate container because anti-fungal meds will destroy any bacteria you have built up. Medicating him will remove the cycle so you can do that if you wish but I for one would think cycling the tank is the best bet later down the road I feel thats what was the problem in the first place with the other betta. Putting your betta in a small gallon tank or plastic container and treating him for anti-fungal while doing 100% daily water changes and keeping the water at 80* F might do the trick. Then when you have him healed focus on cycling the tank I see no point to having a 3 gallon tank with a filter is its not cycled but thats just me :\
