I agree! we all need to offer friendly advice to new people coming here seeking help. don't beat them up because they are doing something wrong. kindly steer them in the right direction and offer the best advice you can. I believe most people are willing to learn.

if the new person refuses to follow advice and continues to state how poorly their betta is faring, then I can understand why people would be a little upset. it's nothing to bust an artery over though. there's only so much we can do.

lets work hard to keep this place recognizesd and in high honors because of our friendly community!

it also comes from peoples experiences with the fish. I had a female betta in a tank wayy less than a gallon and she lived for three years and the funny thing is, Ive had fish in special high quality heated cleaned tanks that die in a few months. So truthfully, I find that my experience with betta fish, less is more.

a thread was removed and to be honest i became quite upset over the behavior of members here... to make it short here is the basics of what happened

new member posts some questions
current members reported the post and i came to look at what was going on
replied with some questions to see if this was legit or semi legit and the new member replied with the unfortunate bad advice they had received elsewhere
some members took it upon them selves to determine this was a troll (BTW it was NOT)
and started making some fairly hurtful comments and some extremely inappropriate ones as well
a senior member and i reminded people over and over that they needed to chill out and it became quite a mess... i closed and removed the thread in order to try and not have all of the aggressive members scare off a new comer looking for help...
with this said and done i came her to vent a bit about the behavior of what was once a great and friendly community and appears to be shifting to a place i am sure not fond of... i can not speak for the whole team in this but honestly this type of thing really makes me want to report these members to the admin for a review... i have not and will not at this time but really this kinda saddens me...

It honestly doesnt matter what one single thread the mods are reffering to because I believe the point they are trying to make is that in general we are here to help people and not assume every new person has a bad agenda. Mods are here for a reason and we should let them do their job and not take it upon ourself to scare away new people. They can go into another forum and give this forum a bad name because what was done to them. Lets prove this is the best forum out there by our good nature

I usually end up editing my posts...

EDIT (lol): Sounds like one person had a bad day. Them being in a bad mood encouraged others to act rudely as well.
