DIY Sponge Filter

I'm interested in making a low power filter for my ten gallon. I want to use an air pump, since that's what I have on hand. I've read a few articles on how to build one, but they always seem to be missing the important how to attach the pump. Does anyone have any directions on making this I can follow? Thanks.

all you gotta do is take a regular kitchen sponge, preferbly the ones without the scratchy stuff, they dont have many pores. poke a hole the size of your air line tubing on the side of it. next attach your tubing inside the hole. make sure it's about halfway in the middle of the sponge. next, take a gang valve (pressure control switch) and attach that to the end of that tubing. set it about halfway, next attach another tubing from that control valve to your air pump. set the sponge in the tank, put something heavy on it like a rock, and your good to go. this is what i saw from a person on youtube.
