Question male not not keeping fry in nest

my male is trying very hard to keep the fry in the nest but there are more of them on the bottom of the tank then in the nest

can i expect to lose those fry ?

My male had the same problem, no matter how hard he tried they just wouldn't stay in the nest and he often had a pile of little ones on the bottom of the tank. After watching them closely i found that if any were down there for more than about 5 minutes they would attempt to swim up on there own and he would take those ones up next.
I don't think i lost any from them being on the bottom but can't be sure as i find it impossible to count all the little devils.

thats what mine has done hez got them all in one pile now they shot for the top but fall short thanks for the info now i don't have to stress as much :d thanks a bunch

How high is your water? I had mine at 5" - 6" high. As they got stronger they were able to make it up there themselves.
