What do you think?

about this boy? Honestly, I don't want to breed him, and I think I've fallen in love... he has a few flaws; his anal is too long, he's got excess branching, but IMO he's one of those dream bettas. :S If I decide to get him, I'm pretty much saying goodbye to a sorority, but at the rate this is going, I'd almost have him over a sorority. I have the money, i have the set up (which was going to be for a sorority) and I have the time. Do you all think I should get him and up my betta count to two? Also, what do you think of his coloring?

(sorry if the pic is giant)

Do you have another longfin male? When they are not flaring they are kind of saggy looking I had an hm male named deon pictured in my avi and he was beautiful but when he wasnt flaring he was very pretty is fins hung very low. I am now hooked on plakats for this reason as they have beautiful fins even when they arent flaring. I vote sorrority as females have the best personality and they would be more fun to watch.

I haven't had a long finned male in quite some time now, and I've never had a halfmoon. Plakats are soo amazing looking, but wow...

you're right about the sororities having personality galore. I had a sorority for a breif period of time, and while things were good, they were great. Augh, this decision is going to be difficult.

It's always great to think over things first....(heee, I get impatient, but i'm working on that...xD )

The black/green betta is gorgeous!
You could try righting down the pros and cons of both if you really can't decide.
:)

good idea

1 guy in a tank:
pro:
1. he'll over all be less expensive (roughly about 45-50$) than the 5-6 quality girls I would be getting and shipping in from different breeders around the world.
2. I could divide the 10 gallon and stick another (maybe a hmpk or doubletail) male in there :D
3. I wouldn't have to qt him for a month seeing as he'd be the only one in the tank for a while
4. big fins :3
5. he's absolutley stunning and probably has a killer personality XD

Cons:
1. greater risk of tailbiting
2.less active (?)

Girls:

Pros
1. the more the merrier :D
2. fast and no need to worry about too much tailbiting
3. chock full of personality
4.No need to divide
5. I can let my little brother and sister each buy their own lfs girl to qt and stick in there to call their own, leaving me 3-4 quality girls of my own in the tank

Cons.
1. I need to qt all of them at least a month before set up
2 getting the girls of my dreams is going to cost a lot
3 I have to worry about drama and illness much more than with just one male in a tank.

hmmmmmmmmmm >.> well, I have two 10 gallons, and if I adopt out the harlequins and just qt phoebe several months before introducing.... I could go for both... But... No, I can't, I've gotta conserve and not go on spending sprees. :P (can you blame a girl for wishing?).... I think I'll have to marinate in this idea for another day or two then make my decision before the guy's auction time runs out.

Very interesting color almost like a copper/melano mixture.

The auction name is melano gold, so you're probably right.

My decision is final :) I'm opting for him over a sorority (until I have more time and fishfunds)

Quick question, is Jennifer Viveiros still a transhipper? I just visted her luvmybettas site, and apparently she's now a cat breeder...

I think she still does. It can't hurt to send her an email and ask.
