I'm going to the pet store today to get another Betta. I have a 2 gallon bowl, and I was wondering about what I need to do to prep it for a Betta. I will be getting a heater for it, so that won't be a big issue. it will also be covered.
Rinse it with hot water (boiling if you're paranoid or it's particularly dirty), buy some low-maintenance live plants (java fern (aka tropica fern), anubias, amazon sword) and decorations, and bam! :) The heater's the main thing. And keep up with your water changes.
Yay! Yippy! Thanks for getting another betta. I agree with kfish, although if you can't get live plants silk ones will work just fine. Your betta should be very happy to be outta his cup. Please post pics? :D
As soon as I have him, I promise! I have to double check the pet store before I get the heater.
Out of mild curiosity, can i use some of the top water from my other Betta's tank in the bowl so i can have a good temperature when I put my newbie in, or should i go with a completely fresh bowl of Betta treated tap water?
Good luck! We have a 10 gallon tank at home that has nothing in it except some old water... I really want to get two bettas to put in it! But not until I graduate in December. Then I shall steal it from my parents when I move out! >:D
Can't wait to get more bettas! You must be so excited.
YAY! Well I've picked him up and have him floating right now, beautiful fish, but he does have fin rot (poor guy...) The pet store owner gave me some medicine for it for free so I will be doing daily water changes (I was going to anyway) and treatment with the antibiotic. He should be all better in no time :3
