Is there something wrong with Pippin?

I got Pippin a week ago. He was all happy until I left to go to my grandparent's house. When I got back, he was just staying in one spot in my tank. He's been sitting there ever since Thursday, at least. Is there something wrong with him?

Also, When I got back, there appeared to be little teeny tiny holes in his fins. I only have one small plant in his tank, and the only tankmates he has in there are 2 mystery snails. Do mystery snails eat little holes in Betta fins?

One more thing. I noticed that he hasn't flared AT ALL since I got him. Is that the nature of Veiltails, or is there something wrong with him?

What size tank is he in?
Have you given him a water change?
How often do you feed him?
Do you have a tank heater?

1. Although I chose the specific tank I wanted, my mom made me buy a 1 gal tank. The tank I originally wanted was 2.5 gals, but the 1 gal was $5 cheaper, so I had to get it.
2. Tomorrow is Water change day (the day of the week i change the water). So, not yet, but tomorrow I'll be changing it.
3. I feed him about 5 little pellet/flake things every 2 hours. The food I'm giving him is the Aqueon Betta food.
4. Yeah.

In a 1 gallon, you need to do 100% water changes every other day, not once a week. The ammonia builds up fast in a tank that small. Second, you're feeding him WAAAAAAY too much. You should only be feeding him 5 pellets PER DAY. Hope this helps. Also, Veil Tails don't flare any less than any other Betta.

Actually, if theyre *flakes, then 5 might be alright. Not pellets, though.

Well, it doesn't matter anymore. I found him stuck between the filter and the wall this morning. RIP Pippin. :'(

I'm so sorry about Pippen!!! :(

You have learned, though, from going through this about feeding, water changes, etc. so your next betta will do MUCH better for you, I'm sure!
