What's this white stuff on my air line hose???

I was going to scrape it off but I didn't know if it's the "good bacteria"? Anyone have any idea what this stuff is?

That actually looks like calcium deposits to me, or some other mineral. Bacteria is usually green, because it's a plant...

Does it flake right off real easy or is it hard are more difficult to remove. I have a similar build up at home and wanted to figure out what it is too.

Since I want to get a pair of snails (To name them Lucy and Desi) for the tank which has a PH of 8.0. and I too get this Calcium build up on the edge of my heater. Does this mean the snails would get plenty of calcium? Or would I still need to add more.

I would THINK snails would do fine in your water, but I'm not really a snail person so I can't say for sure. Hopefully, somebody that is into snails will be along to answer. :)

've got a snail and my water is pH is on the high side, 7.8, (for hardness). The snail has been doing great and have had him for about 6 or 7 weeks. I also get the hard water deposits on my tank and submerged equipment.
