Question Window screen?

Hello, I am trying to use window screen as a temporary divider for my 14gal. I bought the screen (with the frame) at walmart and just got done cutting it down and making it secure for my tank. I ran it under hot water as well, this should have any bad effects on my fish right?

If it has ANY metal in it, it is dangerous. It can tear the fins, and leach toxins into the water. I would suggest plastic craft mesh instead. I highly recommend that you don't use the window screen.

They don't have any craft mesh at walmart or anywhere near me. Would I be able to use the screen if it had a plastic frame? there are no sharp corners on the screen, they have plastic caps on them.

Or could I just used the screen thing they use for doors? That's the only thing I could find at WalMart.

What about the screen itself? I've never seen the screen part of a window screen made of anything else but metal mesh.

It doesn't matter if there is no metal in the frame, it's the screen itself that I'm worried about.

The mesh is really flexible. I believe it is made from small threads coated in plastic. I haven't had a metal screen before.

I suppose you could try it. Just keep an eye on your fish's behavior to make sure nothing is wrong.

They have some fiberglass screen that I will try just in case. I just bought the pre-made one but forgot about the metal frame. Thanks! That was a close one. I'll go look for plastic frames tomorrow.
