The term "Picspam"

It's not even a real word! The definition of spam (according to dictionary.com) is:
Quote:
–noun
2.
( lowercase ) a disruptive, esp. commercial message posted on a computer network or sent as e-mail.
This is a BETTA forum thread where we are all hungry for pics no? so those pics would be disruptive would they? Unless you posted your entire photoshoot in a disease thread for no reason. Everyone in the photo section is labeling their stuff as "picspam" I just don't get it.

Forgive me, it's 4AM I haven't been able to go to sleep and I'm cranky lol.

Technically the term is correct. Those who labels their threads as "picspam" are doing so to warn potential viewers that there are a LOT of pictures in the thread, and if you don't want to look at a large amount, then avoid said thread. The large amount of pictures could also be disruptive because they may be too big for the screen and people might have to scroll from side to side to view the whole thing.

I think of it just as one of those internet terms that may or may not count as 'proper english' but are still words. :)

Yeah- I say picspam to warn others of how many pictures there might be.
I know a handful of people I talk to on here have slow connections, even dial-up, so its a good way to stay away :B
When Im on the interent on my android, too, I avoid them because I know there will be a lot.
