New 10 gallon tank

I just upgraded my old boy(3yrs to 4yrs old) from a 5 gallon to a 10 gallon.

He does have a few tank mates. There is a few neon tetras and glow light tetras I think. They are goldish color with a pink strip. Also a ivory snail.

All fake plants but soon will be a live planted tank.
The tank was a kit from walmart, I had to get a heater and baffle the filter but it was a good kit.

Nice setup, a lot of hidey holes for him. I am really starting to like the black gravel look.
If you are using the filter, did you cycle the tank before you put him in? If not the ammonia more than likely will spike while it cycles.

No I did cycle and I took my old filter from my 5 gallon and had it run in the new tank for a few days.

Oh good! I learned the hard way, I had a 5 gallon going for about a week before I added 3 neon tetras. 1 died almost before he left the bag and the other that night, only 1 survived. So me and my stupid self thought it was the temperature fluctuations, it was very cold outside when I bought them, so I go somewhere else and buy 6......they all died within the day. I felt soooo bad, I ran out and got a water test kit, yep ammonia killed 'em, all but one.
A dumb, rookie mistake, never again. That is why I asked, hope I didn't offend.
I bet he is having fun checking everything out.

Yeah I used to be terrible with tanks when I was younger. Now I am pretty good with them. I have a 55 gallon of semi aggressive fish and now a ten gallon.

He does love all the new room and to tell the truth I think he forgot how old he was. He is swimming all over the tank and chasing the tetras. I have never seen him chase them around before. It is more of a playful chase, he hasn't tried nipping them.

Beautiful! I have the same two decorations (bridge & Asian piece)! Terrific that your betta is so old. Lots of good care, obviously!

Your boy is very pretty! I love his blue back fins! And good for you for keeping him alive for so long. It's heartwarming to see.
