Smile Tank mates!!!

It is all starting to come together...

Went shopping today (at LFS) and bought Rocky some new friends. He now has 5 new friends.

Cory and Dora.... can you guess what type of fish they are? lol
And 3 male guppies (love the colour in their fins and tails)

All went so smoothly, floated bags, mixed water in bags to acclimate etc and released all without a hitch. Bet you are waiting for the 'but' huh?
There is no 'but'. Not a flare... not a chase... not even a nip. Rocky seems more interested in following them around and watching what they get up to.

The guppies are racing around like fools, the cories are driving themselves insane trying to clean everything at once and Rocky I think is just stoked to have some company.

Next week may bring some new plants and maybe some shrimp if I can find some... asked about shrimp today but my LFS stocks them randomly and couldnt give me a date of when he would have any in... hmmm maybe mail order lol.

Having 1 problem lol.... Guppies are eating Rocky's pellets and Rocky is scoffing the flakes that are meant for the Guppies and Cories. Rocky now has a little pot belly... naughty boy

Looks nice - BUT - do not be surprised if Rocky starts going after the male guppies with their nice colorful tails. Many times a male betta will confuse them with another male betta. :(

I love the color of the guppies tails. I have successfully put 2 bettas in with guppies (different tanks) and they all get along fine for over a year now. It really does depend on your bettas temperment. Nice tank!

I'm wary of that lava rock. Those are notorious for ripping Betta fins. Also, Cory's do better groups of at LEAST 3. You should get at least one more.

That Purple Waffle is lookin like its startin to die off. Its not ment to be sumerged. You should plant it in a pot and let it recover
in the sun instead of just wasten your money by lettin it rot in the tank. ;)

HarleyRigid ,

I love your guppy males! So pretty! Guppies are my second favorite fish next to bettas.

I had thought of getting a male guppy for my 5 gallon - then I saw how agressive my female VT Baby Blue was. I'm sure she'd have shredded a guppy in no time flat. :(

Hopefully your betta is more mellow than mine. Good luck!! :D
