Question Should I take the plants out?

I have two long bunches of Anacharis and 3 short ones. Before I had issues will one of the long ones where part of it was dying. I cut that part off and am letting it float instead of being rooted.

The three smaller bunches are starting to turn brown and have holes in them. I would like to throw them out and get a couple more long bunches if I can and just let them float since I'm not having any luck with them planted.

Should I wait to take them out until I get the new plants? I am currently cycling a take and am on day 11 and have high ammonia and high nitrites. Would taking these smaller bunches out have consequence on the cycle?

Also, is it ok to just let Anacharis float at the surface of the water? It would help clear up some space at the bottom for my Bettas' decor and hiding spot.

My tank is a 14gal tall and I don't think the sunlight or hood light is able to fully reach the plants on the bottom. I also just notices one of my longer bunches that are planted are starting to turn brown. Would it be okay to un root it and let it float?

Are you cycling with or without fish...

If the plant are not getting enough light and are dying they are not helping especially if you have fish in the tank, live plants are only helpful to the tank/fish when they are actively growing using ammonia for food......

If this is a fishless cycle then the decomp from the dying plants can help the cycling process

This plant works well as either a floater or rooted in the substrate.

No I do not have fish in my take, I am currently cycling with some shrimp. I think in that case I will just let them all float and leave the decaying parts in there then?

Thank you for your help!
