Exclamation Worried about Comet :'(

My little Comet is staying by the bottom of his tank. He comes up for air and eats well. I thought that maybe he was cold so I turned the tank lamp on. He just seems to be laying at the bottom. He doesn't have fin rot or ich or swim bladder. He is perfectly healthy but I'm worried that he's not doing so good... Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nope. I am using the strong tank light. The temp is about 79-82 degrees.

Uh-oh. Hmmm... well, maybe he is just sleepy. My bettas lay at the bottom when they are tired. Just keep the tank warm and make sure he is still eating. Maybe do a 10-20% water change.

We turned the temp up in the house and he's doing okay, I just hope it warms up here soon... I hear that the light on the tank I have is hard to find, and you have to call Top Fin and buy one from there.. I hope the light doesnt burn out :'-(

That would stink. But I've had this 1 gallon tank from Petco for ages, and my light hasn't burned out even though it is on non-stop.

It might be the fluctuation in temperature. He would do better with a heater if you can get one. It will keep the temp stable. The fluctuations aren't very good for him. I'd imagine when the light is off that the temp goes down, right? You've got a 2 gal, a small submersible heater would work fine. My heaters for that size tank were about $15.

Heaters are good to have even if the fish light keeps the water warm. You should turn his light off at night and the water temp might drop too much that it will make him sick.

Water fluctuations every night and every morning are REALLY bad for them, I highly suggest getting a heater to stabilize it.

I usually leave the light on for a while before I go to bed.

UPDATE: He's doing okay, he's swimming around. :)
