heater question

Can I use a 50 watt heater in a 5 gallon plexi- glass hex tank?

I have the Tetra HT10 50W heater in my 1.8 gal glass bowl. It says it works for 2 to 10 gallons so I don't see why a 50W heater would be a problem in 5 gallon tank. (They know people will use heaters in plexi and acrylic tanks so I'm sure they won't melt with the heater if that is what you are worried about.)
