New member, resue, & Tank

Just rescued Balou the Betta (my name for him) five days ago form friend who kept him in a bowl.
He new home is in a 5 gallon Aqueon and seems to be doing fine. Maybe a suggestion or two could be in order if the picture makes it and I'm in the right place.

Youre in the right place, I guess.
For habitat stuff its the habitats/accessories forum and for general questions and stuff, its here (ish), and for just pictures (if you want) its the pictures forum.

I like it. Just make sure things are nice and soft in there (cant snag hosiery) and that those caves dont have any places he can wedge himself in and not get out.

I suggest, maybe, a couple more soft soft soffttt plastic plants (hairgrass ones ROCK!) or silk plants, just to give it a smidge more whabam factor ;D!!

And, as always (though Im sure you know) dechlorinator, frequent enough water changes, temp from 77-82' and not to over feed ;D

Glad you rescued him. Id love to see him! :B

Wow, he's a very beautiful betta! What you did for him would in no way be detrimental; I'm sure he is ecstatic about his new home and you did a great thing! :)

Thanks, he came right up front and posed. I'm already looking for some soft "Hair Grass".Thinking about some real plants as we move forward. Possibly the grass is a place to start. Going to check for sharp edges in the morning along with seeing just how soft what I have is.

Thanks for you response. I appreciate the good words. Reading all the start-up threads here from all the folks that have and love Betta's really helped Balou and I get started.

Awesome! I bought the fake hair grass at Petsmart, but it isnt on their website. Generally, they arent sharp :D
These are great in tanks!

I have all of these minus the log, but that's a forum fav as far as I can see!

Id Watch out for these!! I bought them and either returned them or didnt use them.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...uctId=11147260 (one plant in here is HARD and can hurt fins)

http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2752307 (This plan is HARD. Its hard to the touch and It ripped my net! Ah! I returned it and don recommend, but I know a few memebers have it...

Rescuing from someone whom already bought a betta is already way better than rescuing from a store because the store made money already anyways, and you're just helping out the betta, so congrats! :D
