I have been using the plain Jane cheapo clay pots in my tanks for YEARS without any problems. That's all I can tell ya! :)

Like terracotta? Theyre fine, just need to be never used and cleaned with only hot hot water.
If so, and for any kind, really- Make SURE if they have small holes on the bottom (or anywhere) theyre a quater-sized or LARGER, or else they need to be sealed or filled up.

the ones I have are pretty small... Got them 3/1$ at the dollar store. The hole is like marker tip size.. I think it would be to small for anything to get stuck.. Agreed or not?

I measured.. The bottom of the pot is 3.7 cm in diameter. The hole is 5 mm in diameter.

Idk, Id still fill it. Honestly, they try to get in the smallest and most obscure places. You could shove a clipping of a fake plant in there and then never have to worry.
