Betta with torn fins, how to help?

Someone has been nipping at my female betta's fins, now they're all torn up(the back one mostly, the bottom a little too) I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to help her heal, or is it just about waiting and maybe taking her out for a while to heal? Or will that just stress her out?

I would take her out and put some aquarium salt in the temporary tank. What size tank is she in now and what other fish are in with her?

She's in a 16 gallon with 4 danios and 3 platies. Only other tank I have is a 1.5 gallon nonfiltered tank.

Oh ok, that's good. I would put her in the 1.5G and put some aquarium salt in the tank. Do you have a heater that you could use to heat it? You could also get a breeder trap or something to hold her in the 16G if you wanted to still keep her in the tank. That way, no one will be able to bite at her.

Also, when her fins grow back and you put her in again and she gets bullied again, I would keep her out of the tank permanently. I don't know what fish are compatible with bettas or if you would have the room to get 4 or 5 more females if you wanted to still keep her in there. Some bettas like the company of other fish and some would rather be by themselves. If she got picked on before, there's a high chance she'll still get picked on.

If you add her back in, you can always take the other girls out, rearrange the tank and then put them all back in. Then they will reestablish territories.

I am just echoing others, but this is based on what has recently worked for me:

Take her out and keep her in the 1/5 gal. Add 1 - 1.5 tsp of aquarium salt to her water.

Do daily 100% water changes and each time add that amount of aquarium salt to her new water.

Keep up salt treatment for max 10 days. After 10 days give her a rest from the salt but keep changing her water. It could take a few weeks to heal completely.

Indian Almond Leaf comes highly recommended...I haven't gotten any yet but as far as I can tell it is nothing but good for helping to heal fins.

Good luck!
