finrot again...reallly?...

I got batman from petco about a week ago. He seemed to be the healthiest betta there. (the rest were floating sideways, some were dead) When I got him he looked to be ok, or so I thought.. This afternoon when I went to feed him I noticed his fins are looking real ragged and shredded almost. I just went through this with Cleo.

Just as a precautionary I have had batman setup in a 1 gallon critter keeper, warm..it stays at 76-78 and I have added a drop of betta revive daily (except for today).

I do 100% water changes daily.


how could he have got finrot.
I'm starting to feel like the worst fish owner ever.

I know the 1 gallon critter keeper isn't a great choice but I have kept a good eye on the temperature, 100% water changes daily, water conditioner, he has one live plant in his tank and some gravel. (I plan on getting a 10 gallon soon.)




I won't be able to get back to the petstore until tomorrow.

the colors on his tail are amazing, either way. the shiny blue is so pretty!

that looks a bit more like tail biting to me. rot would have rotted the whole tail, including the rays. uumm... x_X i dose with aquarium salt, one teaspoon per gallon, but that's just me. >.>;

I went ahead and added the aquarium salt, thank you. I might pick up a anti bacterial med. for finrot tomorrow, just in case it gets worse.

x-X i don't use meds. Gackt got popeye bad right after i used an anti-parasite med, so it scared me away from meds unless i absolutely need them. >.>;

Will aquarium salt hurt my anubias plant that is in Batmans 1 gallon right now?

I believe I know what i did wrong now.. :[
The other day when I did water changes, I used the old container (without cleaning it,the one I had Cleo in a few weeks ago when he had finrot).
Is it possible that they could have gotten finrot again from using the same bowl that i used when Cleo had finrot the first time? I didn't think finrot was contagious though... :[

Other than that, I don't know what i'm doing wrong, I do water changes daily, keep the water warm, don't leave leftover food...I even have live plants for them ( was afraid the silk or plastic might snag their fins.
