Is old fish food ok?

I got almost the perfect setup of betta food from a friend about a year ago. There's several different kinds of betta pellets, flakes and bloodworms. My only concern is that I acquired it almost a year ago, and it's some amount older than that... So can I use that stuff first (they're all fairly small bottles) before buying new stuff or should I go get new food right away?

Honestly, all you need is quality pellets. Variety is for the owner, not the fish...

There's a good chance there is an expiration date on the bottles of food. Check all over for a date printed on it.

I actually couldn't find an expiration date, and I really looked.

The older the fish food and the longer it's had the vacuum-seal broken, the more likely the vitamins in it have degraded and the lower the nutritional value. Take that as you will.

Take a smell of the container, if it smells like fish food then it's fine. If it smells like it's going rancid, then toss it out.

A mixed food like that doesn't speak well for its quality when new.

Do your fish a favor and get some New Life Spectrum Betta or Omega One Betta Buffet. You can't do better.

Quality food is cheap .... and important for health.
