I hope he pulls through!
Remember, Bettas can go quite a while without food, so he will not starve at least.
I wonder what is wrong with him. You might want to try sending a PM to OldFishLady and see what she thinks.

It sounds like you have been providing good general care and maintaining water quality and proper temp....you have had him for a year and he was overall fine during that time until you made some tank changes...if you got him at a box pet shop he was most likely 6mo-1yr already..plus the year you have had him making him roughly 1.5-2yrs in age....no behavior changes and eating...just looks sick...sadly...it sounds like it may be age related...nothing else sticks out at me other than that...sorry......it can be hard especially when we get attached to our pets and fish are no exception......

If you are using the bettafix or melafix be sure and keep the top open to supply good air circulation....sometimes these products can negatively affect the labyrinth organ....

Personally I would try Epsom salt 1-2tsp/gal and tannins along with 100% daily water changes...only because we shouldn't give up too soon especially when the fish isn't suffering.....

Good luck and keep us posted....

Thank you for posting.. Im saddened to hear you think its that too.. I will keep doing daily water changes, the temp is now steady at 79. It seems so sudden, one day he was his amazing bright self, then the next this fragile grey thing boy. Im going to continue what im doing and hope for some improvement.. today is just day 1 of treatment.. Thank you both!

Edit: Oh and i did get him at a Big al's but he didn't look like a baby when i got him... he was the size he is now.. well even bigger then the size he is now.

Thank you.
Well today i added more meds, and fed him almost 1 of all the 5 foods i have to see if he would eat ANY of them. And he did not.. He had it in his mouth, looking like he was going to eat it and then spat it out..

Only you can make that choice. You know him best. If you think he is not going to recover, then maybe it is his time.
