Comet update: New fish tonight? Find out!

Heading to Petsmart to check out their bettas in an hour. I might come home with a new fishie! :D It will be kept in a one gallon bowl. I know it's not smart but I can't afford anything else ATM. If I get good grades I might get another 2 gallon, but who knows? For now (if I get a betta tonight) it will be kept in a bowl. So.. the big question is... male or female? :D

I dont know why you would get another fish when you know you only have a gallon bowl for it, and you didnt mention a heater. I would wait until you get your better grades and just get it all at once. Just my 2 cents, I'm not trying to offend or sound mean or ANYTHING, I promise! :D

It will be kept in that bowl temporarily, I'm super confident in raising my grades for this quarter! <3

The heater is not needed; he will be kept under a lamp and the temp will be watched constantly. I will be purchasing some non-sharp plastic plants to go along with the other bottle of dechlorinater I will also need! :)

But when the lamp gets turned off at night, the temperature will drop dramatically. :/

I don't want to give you the impression that I'm arguing with you, because im not. :)

The betta will be kept in the kitchen where the lamp can be left on constantly, or instead, for a long period of time.

But if the lamp is on too long, or constantly, the betta wont get his day/night cycle, and can get very stressed because of it. I'm also not trying to argue :D Just some friendly info-givin' ;D

That info sounds very important. Your right, their day/night cycle is important. Thanks so much, forgot about that. :3

I'm sorry but I totally have to agree with bettafish15, It kinda sounds like you are not ready for another fish right now. Why not wait a few months and get one when you can afford a good setup? Your fish will not be happy or healthy in a unheated 1 gallon.

Sorry not trying to totally rain on your parade or anything.

You guys are totally right. I shouldn't get a new fish unless I go the whole nine yards. Especially because poor Comet will be spoiled rotten with his fancy 2 gal :D

Yeah, I would just wait until your grade go up to get the tank, heater, and betta all at once, when you can afford it :D I understand that getting another betta is super exciting and you just cant wait, but the betta would be much happier that way :D I only have one myself, and I cant wait to get another one :D
