Emerged/submerged plant ideas needed

Okay, hang with me here.

In an attempt to "baffle" water flow from my filter, I've added a "shelf" under the flow. The shelf is located above the water level. The water from the filter flows off the two sides of the shelf and over the front of the shelf. This shelf will not hold substrate as it would be washed off of one side or the other.

I am loving the look of the water coming off of it and the light trickling sound it makes. The water flow/current in the tank is perfect in my opinion. But the shelf sticks out like a sore thumb.

This is what I'd like to do:

Is there any plants that would grow over my "shelf" and kind of flow over into the water? I see that java moss will grow emerged and submerged. Wondering if there is anything else. I'll get a picture posted of my shelf and perhaps someone can give me an idea.

Oh and also Pennywort. That is easier to find people sell that plant all the time. It can be grown emersed i believe

wow, that looks cool! I like the idea. I'd do it myself, but the sound of trickling water drives me insane.

I checked out the pennywort (afraid it would get too big, too fast in my 10 gal?), creeping jenny- looks okay, and the link you gave me mentioned that the plant coming out of the filter was babytears...and after I looked up baby tears, that's exactly what my minds eye seen in my tank. Something that would grow compacted close together, hiding the "shelf" all together.

Any suggestions regarding babytears?
I think I would be a little concerned about meeting its nutritional needs by having it up out of the substrate.

You could just stick in a vine of pothos/ Devil's ivy in there. They are bog plants that grow just fine with their roots in the water. I have one in my 10 gal. so long as the roots are in the water they require no care either.

I may do something like that until I come up with what I want. I'd really like a dense plant that will cascade over the shelf.

Baby tears are hard to grow. Emersed is slightly easier but you need the correct lighting
