Moving Fry

When is the earliest you would risk moving fry to a new house? I recently had to move about 30 mins away and I have a 6-8 week old spawn at home. My mom is caring for them but I am dieing not being able to watch them grow or change their water as often as I would like to (Right now I can only do weekly water changes and I was doing water changes at least twice a week at home). Also, any moving tips would be greatly appreciated, my plan was to lower the water level in the tank to a few inches and drive very carefully. I'm afraid if I empty the tank I will lose beneficial bacteria and miss some fry when emptying the water.

If moving them is terrible I will suck it up and just stick to what I've been doing :(

I've moved them at 1 week before...just be sure to adjust them VERY slowly.

By adjusting them, Should I lower their water temp slowly before the move? I know to adjust them to the new water slowly. Also, would it be beneficial or harmful to add water from healthy adult fish to their tank after moving them to add more beneficial bacteria or should I not risk it and just use new water?

Unless you have cycled, filtered tank (which is pointless for fry) you should just use new clean water.

This is a good question because I was wondering how soon is too soon to move newly hatched fry. I would feel comfortable moving yours without problems being that they are over 6 weeks old.

Hey thanks for the advice, They were moved and I only lost 1 baby but the rest are well adjusted now temp is back up and everything.

I am glad the move went smoothly. I have moved betta spawns at 3 days old with no losses.
