It appears now he has what looks like muscle coming out of the wound. And his gill on the wounded side is turning blue, from lack of blood flow and/or oxygen.

Poor boy, he must be in so much pain...

Sadly it may be time to do what is right by him......its the selfless thing to do....to allow an animal to suffer any longer than needed is cruel...but on the same note...you also don't want to give up too soon...only you know when it is time to do the right thing.......

I personally do not think he will recover. And he looks like he is suffering unbearably.
I bought him knowing that I might have to euthanize him. I thought it would be better than sitting in that cup, dying.
I just do not want him to hurt anymore.

This is sometimes the hardest part of the hobby....making that hard decision to euthanize or to give them one more day.....only you know when it is time.....if he is suffering...do what is right by him and know that you tried and did everything that could be done within your means.......

Oh man, I'm so sorry! Well god bless you for taking care of him and trying to help him. Really, god bless you! We were praying for you and rooting for you. So sorry!

I was just looking at him. I can see what looks like bone or cartilage coming out now.
He also has things falling off the wound. Not sure what they are. And it appears the blue gill is starting to die off.

I think I need to help end his suffering. He does not look like he will get any better. And even if he lives longer, if the result is the same. Then I should euthanize him now rather than let him slowly, and painful, die on his own.

I am freezing a cup of water right now (Not with him in it of course).

...And I just had to euthanize my Stahl only 4 days ago...

I am not discouraged. All my animals are worth it. No matter how long I have them or how they leave me.
