Really discouraged about Comet right now. I've seen this fill in on alot of posts and decided to copy and paste it right into 'Comet's Folder' on my laptop. Usually the fish I keep die, but Comet seemed extremely healthy until now. I want to be prepared for the worst so please give me your predictions/suggestions... The reason I sound so discouraged is that all the fish I had when I was little died... then I learned about tank size, gallons, filtration... etc. Please help. :3

Housing
What size is your tank? 2 gallon Aqua Scene Desktop Aquarium
What temperature is your tank? 79-80 degrees (cant tell with my tiny thermometer :3)
Does your tank have a filter? It has an airstone.
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? Yes
Is your tank heated? No, but it has a light which keeps it warm.
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? None.

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Top Fin Color Enhancing Betta Bits.
How often do you feed your betta fish? 4 pellets, two in the morning and two at night.

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? Once a week.
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Top Fin Betta Water Conditioner.

Have you tested your water? No

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Nope.
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? He is lethargic and either lies on he bottom of tank, top of tank, or floats in his plant and barely moves.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? An hour ago,
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how?
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Nope.
How old is your fish (approximately)? 1/17/11-Current. (he was bought 1/17/11, that's not when he was born, I have no clue 'bout that.)

I think you should be doing more water changes,But I am not an expert.Has he lost his color or does he look pale?

Last night he had full color, now he's looking pale, yeah.

I'm gonna bet he's just cold, sadly lamps don't warm all of the water, mostly just the top. ^^ if you could get him a heater he should perk right up.

A long time ago when I was just getting started with betta keeping i often noticed this in my unheated tanks. :{
Now however, since all my tanks are heated none of my fish lay at the bottom, even when and if they are sleeping.

Here's a pic of his body: (yes, I can tell he has stress stripes, he's never had them before.) As you can see his fins are all ok, no biting, fin rot... he just pale... I have removed him from the cup and put him back into the tank, and I'm monitoring the temp closely with the tank thermometer.

Hey friend! I can't believe this about Comet. I agree, a heater might do the trick! I say leave the light on until you can get a heater, then do a 25% water change. I'm so sorry! Don't give up!

I think he'll be fine. :)

What I would do is get him a heater, and start doing water changes 50 instead of 100% and two or three times a week instead of once. I'd be willing to bet that it's the heater, and since he's only been like this for an hour or so, I wouldn't worry too much as long as he still eats. His color might be a little light, but I don't see any lesions or fuzz, so he's probably just cold.

Maybe you're not feeding him enough? We feed our beta 4 pellets twice a day.
