Gravel Question

When I first bought my fish, I purchased some rainbow gravel from Walmart. But after a while, I noticed little rainbow particles from the gravel coming up to the surface and dirtying my tank. Plus I was afraid at the time for Ignacio to breathe it in. I didn't know if it would hurt him. So I got some of those marble rocks.

I was wondering because I saw some nice black gravel at the pet store and I really want it. Do all gravel let off residue? Is it safe for the fish?

You need to rinse, rinse, rinse the gravel to get rid of the dust.
If you did and there's still some left, push them down with your finger and they will sink or scoop them up.
It can't be good if he eats one, I had to pull one I missed out of one of my sorority girl's mouth.

The best kind of gravel to use is the kind that is coated with plastic. Even though you have to rinse it to get regular dust off of it, it takes very little rinsing.

Thanks guys! I think I might go ahead and get the gravel and I'll rinse it real well. I'll also keep an eye out for the plastic covered gravel! Thanks!!

Or - go with natural gravel & you won't have to worry about it. :)
