tank terrace shelf

Well I just got Neon a tank terrace shelf. He instantly declared it as his new favorite spot.

It looks so awesome. Fairly realistic, and the shelf is basically a flat piece of brown plastic with ridged walls, so I filled it with gravel and put a java fern in it. Neon lays down on it, swim through the back, and loves staying under it. I'm a bit worried though because the edges look a little sharp and he is paying a lot of attention to it. Do you think he'll be okay? And does anyone else have expirience with this shelf? It looks so awesome...

But it does look a little fake. Any ways to make it look more real, or is it possible to create one of these shelves?

Ah, I know the product you're talking about because I remember thinking how that was a neat idea and looked interesting. Sadly I wouldn't know if it's edges are sharp or not. Great to know that he likes it though, personally I haven't had any problems with fish ripping their fins on decorations so hopefully it will be fine.

That's pretty cool! It would probably look more realistic, since you asked, if you put a dense grove of tall plants around it that gradually sloped down towards the front of the tank. Then it would look sort of like a plateau on top of a hill :)
