Came back from a locally owned fish-store... and wow, was I ever impressed by their tanks. Both saltwater and freshwater, and fish I haven't even seen in Big Al's or any other specialty chain-store (though yes, I am aware that locally owned pet/fish stores can get in special orders. But these fish were absolutely stunning!) Their bettas were in excellent conditions, crystal clear water, some of them even in five gallons.
So I chose this little girl out, who was living in a Fluval Chi with a few amano shrimps. Didn't manage to get a "before" pic of her, but she was this solid yellow (pic below) with some very thick irridescence on her body-
And within maybe 8 minutes of being on a stable surface (she was still in her bag) she turned red (grizzle, maybe?) cambodian- which I'm really not fond of, but she's such a cutie. Lovely color on her, but I've never had such a dramatic color change within that small amount of time! I'm curious to see how she'll turn out. I like the form of her body and her fins, so hopefully when the breeder comes in March I'll be able to find a suitable male for her... preferably a PK or HM.
Sorry for all the babbling- here she is! Sorry for the size/quality of the pics.
