Unhappy Blu isn't acting himself...

It started when my son put blu's mirror in the tank with him... now he won't play, he still swims around and in and out of his hiding place but I'm afraid of him slipping into a depression over it. I want him to go back to his old playful self...

Did you leave the mirror in there?

Have a few questions....along with the one already asked...

How big is the tank, how much and how often are the water changes and when was the last one, water temp, filter, live plants, additives used, how long have you had him, appetite, what kind of food, feeding etc.....any other symptoms other than he doesn't flare at the mirror....

no other symptoms the tank temp is around 73 degrees it's about 1.5 gallons and I actually changed the tank water right after the mirror was removed... I'm afraid to keep the mirror in there with him because I don't want to stress him out no filter but I do partials every other day. I've had him for three days he actually perked up after this post and was flaring his reflection in the glass

Since you've only had him for 3 days, he's still adjusting. I wouldn't worry too much. As for the mirror, the recommended time is only to have it in the tank 5 minutes at a time so it doesn't stress him out.

I don't even put it in the tank and when I do use it, it's for maybe 2 minutes tops

I just don't want to do anything wrong I've really gotten attatched to the little guy... my husband makes fun of me for being so attatched to my fish... my goldfish came down with ich and I nearly started crying.

Well for one since your betta has only been with you for 3 days and still adjusting why bother with the mirror at all? He's already stressed out to begin with getting acclimated, no point in compounding matters by adding a mirror to the mix

I run into this a lot with acrylic tanks. Constant reflections from all sides until that thin layer of nitrobac forms. Or I leave my 7w grow lamp on and come home to my new green-glass desk ornament again...

he's very active today swimming all over his tank he even ate the floating betta pellets today which he wasn't when I got him he was eating the micro pellets that sank I gave him a more spacious bowl last night when I was changing the water and he seems to like this habitat better than the old one plus my son can't traumatize him anymore
