My new tank is leaking....

I just bought it near Christmas time ...it's leaking thank goodness I saved the receipt and box. Called petco they said I can get a store credit

So...I want to get a 5 gallon tank for the little guy(I had a 1.5).
Now...
With a 5 gal tank can he have another type of fish
To swim with...will he get along with another fish? If he does What kind should I get and how many of these fish is okay for this tank size.

IMO....the 5gal is too small for any other fish along with the Betta to meet every ones needs...plants, shrimp, snail are fine in 5gal and less....the smallest tank I would use to add other fish would be 10 gallons....and then you still have limits......
