Betta leaf, do not boil!

Boiling destroys material and bacteria and can also destroy free nutrients in the water. It reduces the concentration of good stuff.

What you're making with "betta leaf" Indian almond leaf is a tea.
You don't boil tea, you pour boiled water over tea after the water starts to cool off.

Like around 195F.

Boiling liquids, especially vitamin and protein-oil materials, causes the head to excite water molecules in an explosive manner. In a hard boil this can result in the energy input actually breaking the water down to H and OH then their re-combining. In microwaves this is the way water is heated, the energy breaks the bonds and not only breaks up the water molecule but also exposes anything bound to that water molecule to live steam. None of the vitamins can survive being removed from moisture/oil.

DON'T point out the pill bottles that claim to have C and other stuff in them, they don't. They have the materials our body needs to make the vitamins, not the actual vitamins.

So if you use Betta Leaf and you make a tea of it, boil water first THEN pour it into the steeping pot (clay "tea" pots are great) with the broken up leaf to steep. When it drops below body temp you can put it in the fridge to store or use it in the tank.

Or you can break the leaf up and toss it in the tank/bowl itself.

If you do put it in the tank, how much do you use?
